LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Saudi team, Al-Ettifaq, is reportedly mulling the idea of presenting winger Mason Greenwood with a £10 million per year contract offer.
The announcement came after Manchester United disclosed on Monday, August 21, that Greenwood would be leaving Old Trafford.
This decision was reached following the conclusion of an internal investigation into his conduct, subsequent to the attempted rape charges against him being dropped back in February.
This investigation by Manchester United extended for a six-month period, leading the Manchester United Supporters Trust to criticize the club for the lengthy duration taken to make a final determination about Greenwood’s future.
Now 21 years old, Greenwood is in search of a new club and could potentially find a fresh start with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, as per reports from The Sun.
Al-Ettifaq, having won their initial two league matches of the season, is contemplating a contract worth £10 million annually for Greenwood.

This represents a substantial increase compared to his existing contract with Manchester United, which grants him £75,000 per week, or approximately £4 million per year.
Should Greenwood make the move to Al-Ettifaq, he would find himself alongside manager Gerrard, who recently took over as the team’s new manager.
Additionally, he would reunite with a familiar face in the form of former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who is now his teammate.
However, Al-Ettifaq is not the sole contender for Greenwood’s signature, as various other Saudi clubs are expressing interest in the English international. Turkish giants Galatasaray are also keeping a close eye on his situation.
Furthermore, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has shown admiration for Greenwood and is potentially considering bringing him to his squad at Roma, according to reports from Mail Sport.
