ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Abia chapter of the Labour Party has raised the alarm in Umuahia about rumoured employment and job recruitment into the stateās civil service between April and May, by Governor Okezie Ikpeazuās led administration.
Jerry Njoku, the publicity secretary, has therefore, warned the public not to fall victim to the antics of some political appointees of the outgoing administration flaunting job opportunities at them.
He alleged that some political appointees were collecting as much as N350,000 from people with promises of getting them employed into senior and executive cadres of the stateās civil service.
Njoku added that over 2,000 individuals had already been duped and issued employment letters to some ministries and agencies.
āWe use this medium to call on residents of Abia to report anyone who has collected money from them for recruitment into the civil service between April and May to the police,ā the Labour Party official said.
Njoku speaking on Thursday, noted that: āThe said employment letters are fake and will not stand any test of scrutiny by the incoming government.ā
A Labour Party administration in Abia, headed by Governor-elect Alex Otti, is expected to be sworn-in in Abia on 29 May to succeed the current Peoples Democratic Partyās (PDP) administration, having won the 18 March governorship poll.
