IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Supreme Court is trending on Twitter on Wednesday morning following the declaration of All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Tinubu as the president-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor, was declared the president-elect after he polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 presidential election.
Professor Yakubu announced Tinubu as the winner at the International Collation Centre in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday.
The vice-presidential candidate of Labour Party, Yusuf Datti and some Nigerians have taken to social media to air their displeasure with the outcome of the 25 February presidential election plagued with hooliganism, over-voting and manipulation.
Reacting to the announcement, Datti plead with Obidients to keep calm.
He described the election results as “a case of stolen mandate and it’ll be returned”.
He wrote: “It will be a very long ride but I plead with you all to keep calm. This is a case of stolen mandate and it will be recovered. 📌”
A tweep, @iambankalat said: “At this point INEC should be studied as a compulsory course in Nigerian higher institutions, So we know how to tackle most of this things effectively Time to better Nigeria 🇳🇬 ✊🏽”
Omotayo Williams, a political analyst said: “Nigerians are not celebrating, however we would celebrate soon. It’s the easiest case to win at the Supreme Court. Peter Obi will secure his mandate.

@oganna56 tweeted: “APC own supreme court but i pray that this hope that you giving me should help.”
“Okwute simply allowed them to finish their drama well, so that the global disgrace they will receive will be very loud. They never sheee shomthing 😂😂,” says Ada Nwachinewelu.
Bulaba said: “My Okwute, my odogwu, as dem never see you coming this big, na so dem no go see you as you take back you stolen mandate from these rougues. Dem rig this election.”
Obi was nicknamed Okwute after he beat all political godfathers in Anambra State to reclaim his mandate as the Governor of the state.
He was impeached but that didn’t deter him from returning to court – despite them being in control of the judiciary – to reclaim his mandate.
@EniyeAmeze wrote: “Peter Obi didn’t come this far to be defeated, wait patiently for it, it will definitely speak. You can’t Rob us of God’s mandate.”
