ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says he will study the result of the Benue Northwest senatorial election and respond appropriately.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Titus Zam of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the Senatorial election.
Ortom, who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lost to Zam.
While Ortom polled 106,882 votes, Zam had 143,151 votes, Labour Party, LP, candidate, Mark Gbillah garnered 51,950 votes.
The results were announced by the Senatorial Collation Officer, Prof. Rufus Shaa’to in Makurdi, the state capital.
Reacting, Governor Ortom in a brief statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser, Media & Publicity, Terver Akase, said he has received the official results and that it would be scrutinized
Akase said, “His Excellency, Governor Samuel Ortom has received the result of the 2023 Benue North West Senatorial election. He will study the result and respond appropriately.”
