ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has expressed dismay over the impunity exhibited by some traditional rulers who according to him, have abandoned their primary responsibilities as custodians of tradition and customs of the people and dived into the arena of partisan politics in the State.
Okezie said this in a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Chris Ezem and made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Friday.
He noted that it has been inundated with reports of the involvement of recognized traditional rulers from Abia North, Central and South senatorial districts who have thrown caution to the winds in breach of existing public order.
The release added that the state government has taken notice of the activities of three traditional rulers from Abia North, two from Abia Central and two from Abia South.
“By this final notice, all traditional rulers are warned to desist forthwith from such unwholesome act as government will not hesitate to sanction any erring traditional ruler going forward,” the release stated.
