IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata aka Teni Makanaki, has reacted to plus-size actress Monalisa Stephen’s comments over post shared about her weight loss journey.
Teni shared her weight loss journey with her fans and also disclosed the reason she finally gave up her unhealthy way of life.
The Billionaire crooner literally broke the internet after sharing photos debuting her new look away from the plus- size everyone was used to seeing.
Sharing before and after photos, Teni through her voice over revealed that she decided to lose weight because she wanted to stay alive.
This didn’t sit well with the Monalisa who took to her Instagram story channel, to state that Teni sharing her weight loss journey is simply setting up fat people to be ridiculed online.
She continued by saying that the fact that she’s fat doesn’t mean she is unhealthy like most people assume.
The actress shaded Teni for suddenly talking like being fat is a disease after she gained support and sympathy from the community.
Calling for the inclusion of plus-size people in the entertainment and movie industry, Stephen proudly noted that she is fat and loves her body that way.
Monalisa’s comments about the pictures sparked reactions from netizens who dragged her for finding fault in it.
A netizen, eji_spizzy wrote: “Madam shusss your mouth and go loose some weight. Who fat help? I was size 22 two years ago and it wasn’t fun. People will still praise you either way but the truth is still the truth. Just try and add effort the result will wow you.

Another netizen @saadatbibire said: “I feel like she’s focusing on a particular class of people who need inspirations to lose weight!
“Being fat is not a shame but also people choose healthy living. Focus on staying thick and let people who want to lose weight lose weight too! It’s not even hard.”

“It’s your choice, but don’t ever say it’s healthy,cos there is no health benefit of been fat, especially when you get to some age range,” @nigeriansmiles stated.
Reacting to Monalisa’s comments about her post, Teni said: “I ain’t going back and forth with no dumb Monalisa, that ain’t who Lojay sang about.”
