LAGOS,Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Nigerian singer Michael Olayinka, famously known as Ruger, has credited Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy for introducing live band performances into Afrobeats music.
Ruger stated that prior to Burna Boy’s adoption of live bands, a majority of Afrobeats artists relied on DJ sets during their stage performances.

Drawing attention to Burna Boy’s impact, Ruger highlighted how the use of live bands elevated the quality and enjoyment of Afrobeats performances.
Speaking in an interview with Billboard alongside BNXN, Ruger said: “Before Burna Boy started this live band thing most Afrobeats Act would just go on stage with their DJs and bounce, Burna boy makes live performance enjoyable.
“I don’t care if they give Burna Boy his flowers or not, but we the youngins from Nigeria know what he has done.”
