ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has urged Nigerians to vote for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), in 2023 presidential poll.
Governor Ortom described Obi, the former Anambra State Governor as a man who can help and deliver Nigeria from the challenges that are rocking the country.
The Governor stated this when Obi visited the IDP camps in the state as part of his Campaign ahead of the 2023 elections, on Sunday.
Ortom regretted that some presidential candidates who came to the state during their campaign never visited the IDPs to show them love and and hope, apart from Obi.
He therefore prayed God to bless Obi and his ambition to become the next President of Nigeria, stressing that he would have been following him (Obi) everywhere, to canvass for votes for him, but because he is a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I’m still telling Nigerians that this is a man that can help & deliver this country.”
His words: “Several people have come here, a lot of them but none of them has chosen to visit those camps and look at their plights and see how they are doing and at least give them hope that when they win, they will bring then succour, they will help, they bring hope to the people, non of them.
“And for you to have chosen to visit the IDPs, and not just on ordinary day, but on a Christmas day that you should be celebrating with your family, you are here visiting IDP camps.
“For me as Christian, I have nothing to say than to say God will bless you, God will bless your ambition, God will bless what ever aspiration that you have. The aspiration to be the president of this country, my prayer is that God will bless you.
“And to reiterate my earlier comment which i said, that because I have seen capacity, I have seen faith and hope, and I have seen someone that can bring the required justice, equity and fairness that some of us have been pushing since I became governor in 2015.
“If I were not in PDP, I would have been following you all over the place to canvass votes for you. But because I’m in PDP, I’m still telling Nigerians that this is a man that can help deliver this country from the challenges that we have.”
