ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- “Obidients” have lambasted Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant on Digital Communications to President Muhammadu Buhari, for criticizing Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), over donations he made to flood victims in Anambra State.
Obi, a former Anambra State Governor, in a tweet on Saturday, publicized some items he donated to residents of Ogbaru area of Anambra and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, in Atani.
The list of items shown in the photos shared by Obi include loaves of bread, bags of rice, Indomie noodles, a generator, grinding machine and other items.
Obi wrote: “Earlier today, I also visited the flood-ravaged areas of Ogbaru in Anambra State and the IDP Camp in Atani. The infrastructural damage is extensive.
“In commiserating with the people, I promised that my needs assessment visit will help in determining recommendations to Federal and donor agencies on priority recovery projects.
“In continuation of my visits to areas affected by flood, I visited parts of Anambra East and West with stakeholders; Dr Tony Nwoye, and Chief Peter “McPee” Aniekwe. Houses were submerged to the roof levels.
“I’m still wondering why the FGN have not formally declared a flood emergency and intervention modalities,” the former Governor wrote.
Reacting, Ahmad in a tweet on Sunday, mocked the Labour Party presidential candidate for donating such items to the flood victims.
He wondered why Obi, who was a former Governor and a presidential candidate donated such items, and asked him to do more.
“A former governor and presidential candidate donating a grinding machine and 24 loaves of bread to thousands of flood victims, Comrade, we are in 2022 for God’s sake. We urge you to respect your family and correct it,” he tweeted.
Supporters of Obi have since attacked Ahmad, the presidential aide, as a result of his tweet.
Attacking him, @gechife wrote: “Bashir you have 1.3M followers. You could have used your platform to help out the millions of Nigerians rendered homeless and in need of food and supplies. Over 600 dead and yet you are playing politics. Again we are open to receive your donations. #NigeriaFloods”
@andyRoidO responding to the presidential aide, wrote: “Emphasizing“va former Governor” shows you that Bashir sees the Government as an avenue for theft. Unsurprising, since he fraudulently kept drawing a Government salary after leaving Government.”
Also, @igweOdyssey said: “Having low IQ is a minimum compulsory requirement for being a Tinubu and APC supporter and Bashir’s tweet has reinforced that theory. Peter Obi is their nightmare.”
@Scizo4real said also “How much has buhari done for his daura people Bashir? You are nothing but a foolish boy!”
