ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi says he is willing to accept any constructive criticism against him and his supporters.
Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, noted that the country needs an accountable government, while explaining that criticisms would make his government better.
On his verified Twitter account @PeterObi, on Sunday, the former Peoples Democratic (PDP) member said public criticisms mean well for him.
According to him: “I have noticed that some who have questioned or constructively criticised my actions or pronouncements are also being criticised for speaking up.
“The new Nigeria we seek, is one in which citizens can criticise and hold leaders accountable.
“I welcome such constructive criticisms; it will make our leadership better, adaptive and responsive. When @AishaYesufu and @firstladyship criticises me publicly, I know they both mean well for me and for Nigeria. I know I have them in my corner. Salute! -PO”
Meanwhile, Aisha Yesufu, a popular social activist, replying Obi through her Twitter account @AishaYesufu said that the essence of the criticism is for the former APGA man to get into the Aso Villa, from where Nigeria would be transformed.
The Nigerian activist wrote: “Dear PO, I gave you my words. You can turn your back and it will always be safe with me Insha Allah.
“The goal is Aso villa from where you will give us the transformational leadership Nigeria needs to go from consumption to production and take it’s place among comity of Nations.”
