ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Owing to the dispute over the rightful gubernatorial candidate in Delta State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Supreme Court has on Wednesday, fixed 21 October, 2022 for judgement.
The date was announced by a five-member member panel, presided over by Justice Amina Augie, after listening to arguments from lawyers to parties in the appeal filed by David Edevbie against the 29 August judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja.
The Court had, in its judgment reversed the 7 July ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which voided the nomination of Speaker Sheriff Oborevwori.
It was gathered that Oborevwori came first in the party’s governorship primary held on 25 May, but Edevbie challenged Oborevwori’s nomination, claiming that he (Oborevwori) submitted false documents to the party, by virtue of which he ought not to be allowed to participate in the primary.
But in a judgment on 7 July, 2022, Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja upheld Edevbie’s claims and voided Oborevwori’s nomination, a decision that was reversed on 29 August, 2022, by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
