IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A Twitter user, Obidients Media, has called out the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders for giving out money to community members and attendees of Ndigbo rally in Imo State.
Igbo women on Wednesday converged on Owerri, the Imo state capital, on a solidarity rally for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
The women who gathered at the Ndubuisi Kanu stadium, marched through some streets in Owerri, causing gridlocks in some parts of the metropolis.
Adorning different APC insignia, the women displayed some placards with messages of support for the APC’s presidential candidate.
According to them, Tinubu was better positioned and prepared to lead the country in 2023.
However, in a new development, a tweep, Obidients Media, has called out the party for giving the attendees monetary incentives.
The tweep wrote: “Stop fooling yourself @fkeyamo. I’m from Imo State. My Aunty was at the Stadium & she was among the women who shared the campaign fund 10k each in my community. Even my little sisters name was put in the register of those who collected.
“My Aunty is fully OBIdients🤣🤣🤣 So rest.”
@obidientsmedia’s tweet has since generated reactions form Nigerians.
A tweep, Ayuba Ibn Braimah, backed up Obidientsmedia’s claim and said the Ndigbo in APC Lagos were also paid. He shared images of a letter indicating the amount spent on the rally.
He said: “Don’t mind that man. This is Lagos own. 👇👇👇👇👇”
Gsamito also corroborated the allegations: “Did you not see actual videos of one of the men asking them that they’d have to close shop to march?
“You go close eyes to that one na. As e no suit your agenda.”
Maazi FA wrote: “My aunt is one time APC women leader in Imo State and I can’t begin to laugh at the gullibility of @fkeyamo and @OfficialAPCNg. They will learn a hard lesson soon. Don’t worry, keep giving Obidient women money which they will collect. APC will know who is who on election day.”
According to Harvey: “I will keep saying this any Gathering going on in the southeast For PDP and APC our people will come to collect their money.”
General thinking man opined that: “Why do you think you are saying the truth now? Those that left from Orsu LGA,despite the war zone it’s didn’t receive or paid Kobo, which my step mother was part of it, how come your aunty is getting money from who? Nonsense.”
QwertyGandalf also stated: “You must understand that this show of crowd by the APC and PDP is an old trick. They know people are not voting for them, but it’s part of the justification for rigging.
“If your people think taking their money and not voting for them is their worry, you guys don’t know what’s up.”
Olugbenga Oyelakin was not having any of the allegations, though, as he was quite brutal with his comment.
“Everything na una family members dey always dey involve, if they didn’t force una mama to close shop and attend rally in Lagos, they will mobilize una aunties dem with 10k to attend in Imo, una eyes go clear Feb 2023,” he tweeted.
@TheBernardSam had this to say: “You wonder why no one has ever said they were paid or forced to attend any OBIdient rally?
“Just APC and PDP, in every rumour, there is an element of truth. Maybe not all, but people are forced and financially induced for those APC and PDP rallies.”
