In this respect, he should not take any chance as accuracy is directly proportional to the credibility of a reporter and his newspaper. The role of a sub-editor is to check for accuracy. It is particularly important when background is involved. In the case of dates and names the reporter may rely on his memory but the sub-editor must check them from reference material available in the newspaper office.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Wednesday, allegedly shot a 22-year-old man, Gafaru Yusuf and one Emmanuel Olomowewe dead in the Idioro area of Mushin, Lagos State. A police officer has been killed in Ondo State following the invasion of Okuta Elerinla Police Division by gunmen. Voice of Naija reports that the gunmen stormed the station and caught the officers on duty unaware on Monday around 1:00 am. The mission of the gunmen is yet to be ascertained.
