In March, financial institutions reduced the international spending limit on naira cards from $100 to $20 monthly. IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its ongoing nationwide strike. ASUU has been on strike since February 14 to press home the demand for improved funding for universities, a review of salaries for lecturers, among other issues. The government through its counsel, James Igwe prayed the court for an interlocutory injunction restraining ASUU from taking further steps as regards the strike, pending the determination of the substantive suit. IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, who confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday, said the appointment is for a tenure of three years in the first instance. Until his appointment, Mr. Dembos was the Executive Director, Marketing of the NTA. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has commenced investigation into the source of the outbreak Ebola in Uganda. A statement by WHO’s Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti disclosed that a joint team comprising its officials and the Ugandan health authorities has started investigation after the East African country declared an outbreak of Ebola.
