Malaysia is experiencing its sixth episode of continuous heavy rain from the annual monsoon season that started in November, 2022. Rescuers in boats retrieved families trapped on rooftops and hauled others to safety as villages and towns in parts of Malaysia were submerged in floodwaters, leading to over 26,000 people being evacuated as of Thursday. Two opposition senators have faulted the arguments of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on the provisions of the Electoral Act regarding the electronic transmission of results. ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been officially returned as the president-elect and given his certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The certificate of return was presented to Tinubu, winner of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria by Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman, after he defeated the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party, among other contestants.
