A South African Police officer has been arrested in connection with the murder of his estranged wife and his 30-year-old lover. It was gathered that the warrant officer found his wife and the alleged lover having sex at an apartment belonging to her friend and gunned them down. 57-year-old man, Sidney Holmes, has been released after serving more than 34 years of a 400-year prison sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. Holmes was arrested in October 1988 for allegedly being the driver for two unidentified men who robbed a man and woman at gunpoint outside a store, according to Pryor. The two unidentified men stole the male victim’s car. Holmes was convicted in a jury trial in April 1989, and sentenced to 400 years in prison. The Tropical Cyclone Freddy that ripped through southern Malawi has reportedly claimed no fewer than 190 people and have left 584 injured. At least 37 people have also been reported missing in the country, according to the country’s Department of Disaster Management Affairs on Tuesday. A South African woman arrested for hiring hitmen to kill her husband over insurance money, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Phumaphi Gloria Gwebu and her husband Sipho Shadrack Dimba, 52, lived together at Msogwaba Trust with their children.
