The immediate past Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Jibrin Barau, APC, Kano North has emerged as the Deputy Senate President. His emergence followed the nomination by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi and seconded by Salisu Mustapha. Clerk to the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal declared him elected unopposed as there was no counter-nomination. Akwa Ibom South-West Senator-elect, Godswill Akpabio, has defeated Zamfara West Senator-elect, Abdul’aziz Yari, in the 10th Senate President election on Tuesday morning. Akpabio garnered highest number of votes out of the 109 votes cast. Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and leading Senate Presidential aspirant , Godswill Akpabio has held a meeting with President Bola Tinubu. Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa has revealed how his wife, a former president of the Appeal Court, used her position in office to favour other politicians in the Senate. Zainab Bulkachuwa was president of the Appeal Court between April 2014 to March 2020. The Itesiwaju Omu Arogun Area Community Development Committees (IOACDC) comprising 42 communities in Mowe, have appealed to Ogun State Government, to provide more basic infrastructural projects the community needs. The chairmen of the CDCs made the call during the official presentation of certificates to the new CDCs held on Saturday at Mowe. The chairman of the Arigbanwonwo Area CDC, Adekanye Adetola, said the Mowe community lacked government intervention regarding roads and electricity among others. “We have not been having it good when it comes to government infrastructural facilities.
