Matthew Precious Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, the former security guards, who were offered scholarships to further their education in Cyprus, have cried out online about their current condition.
It would be recalled that the young men known as Happie Boys, became internet sensations after a video of them dancing on duty in their security uniforms surfaced online.
Following reports that they were sacked over the video, they received public sympathy and were awarded a fully-funded scholarship, alongside their manager Caleb, to study abroad by philanthropist Apostle Chinyere Chibuzor of Omega Power Ministries (OPM).
However, in a surprising development, the boys revealed, in a post shared on their official Instagram page, that they were only able to attend school for six months before being forced to drop out due to lack of sponsorship.
They claimed that finding a job in Cyprus is very difficult, and the cost of living in the country is extremely high.

They also shared their alleged conversations with Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, where they requested money from him multiple times, but he either claimed to be broke or ignored their messages.
Captioning the post, Happie Boys wrote:
“We want to use this medium to thank each and everyone of you out there more especially my fans, family & @papa.opm who helped us fly abroad to school which we are so grateful!! After GOD used @gossipmilltv to show the world our inbuilt talent from GOD & we’re forever grateful to GOD for looking after us, sustaining and providing for us for the past 8 months which the scholarship lasted for only 6 months and us who didn’t come from rich homes dropped out from school because is very hard for anyone to get a job here in Cyprus! Ask @ogenecyprus .. Living in the country became so expensive but GOD in heaven is seeing his children through!! “Let Love Lead”🙏🏻🥀 Who no go no know! #happinessisfree #freeshallipopi”
Nigerians have been reacting to the development on Twitter with some confirming that there are no jobs in Cyprus while others drag pastors who are quick to jump on any trending topic.
A tweep, @udemeanthony7 said: “Thank God man no be GOD.. many of us for don dey eat grass after failed promises and disappointment.
“I really wish to say few things about Nigeria pastors and the way they jumped into trending topics.. which makes them more popular. But I just can’t because of my belief.”
@TemmyTee commented: “These ones no well! So on getting there, you cannot be doing a part time job and be able to save for the future??? Awon oponu omo!”
@cliffovo repliedn@TemmyTee and said Cyprus isn’t USA.
“You think Cyprus is USA? If you don’t know just keep quiet.”
@olamide01 reacted: “I don’t know why they don’t think,when all this guys were traveling at first I thought they were going to a better country not knowing it’s Cyprus,that country is just for enjoyment,enjoy yourself then come back,nothing Dey there,baba suppose carry them go better country.”
“The morale of the story is ‘person wei go help you no go stress you’ God must make a way from nowhere…….,” @oluwadondis shared the moral of the story.

@javiisgreene35 tweeted, “They could have started content creation when they had people’s attention.”
@LeyeEmmanuel on his part, disclosed what his friends also passed through abroad.
“Those guys are saying the truth, two of my friends got abandoned in the USA because the said scholarship became void after 6 months. Many of the students have turned prostitute just to survive. Instead of taking people from their country to suffer them, Nigerian Unis are cheap, empower students via Nigerian universities.”
