Former Manchester United and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has announced his retirement from football.
The 39-year-old has been without a club since leaving Watford at the end of last season.
Recall he rejoined Watford from West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 2018 but will not be staying on as the club rebuild for life back in the Championship.
Foster announced his decision on his Twitter account, posting: āThe ups, downs, good, bad and uglyā¦ itās all part of the journey!
āMy time at Watford is up, but a huge thanks for all the support and love Iāve received from fans, players and staff in the six years with the club, itās been a blast!
āLooking forward to what next season will bring.ā
Foster began his professional career at Stoke City and moved to Manchester United in July 2005. He was subsequently loaned out for two seasons to Watford.
Spells at Birmingham City and West Brom followed before Foster returned to Watford in 2018. Foster has earned eight England cups and was a member of the 2014 World Cup squad.
Foster has made 26 league appearances for Watford this season, keeping four clean sheets. He played his last match as a Watford player at Vicarage Road on Sunday when Leicester ran out 5-1 winners.
