LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Editor, Voice of NAIJA Communications (VONa) Mrs Medinat Kanabe has made the 2024 list for the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), Open Contract Reporting Project (OCRP).
The announcement was made via a press statement by Programs Officer, ICIR, Alfred Akerele, sent across various media houses.
The programme is funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation under its “On-Nigeria Anti-corruption Programme.”
According to the statement, the OCRP, a three-year initiative, aims to enhance fiscal transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s budget and procurement processes.
“Over the past seven years, the ICIR has been dedicated to empowering journalists to investigate and report on budget and procurement issues effectively.

“This effort contributes to reinforcing open contracting processes and facilitating better service delivery, especially at the sub-regional level, for the benefit of citizens and has also seen the training of over 250 journalists and the publication of more than 300 investigative reports across various sectors in Nigeria.
“In its final year, the OCRP will support 20 selected journalists with capacity-building, mentoring, and financial assistance to conduct investigative and data-driven reports on budget and procurement matters,” it stated.
