ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigerian Army has addressed a recent publication by Sahara Reporters on April 13, 2024, titled “Repented Boko Haram Member Enlisted into Nigerian Army slits Woman’s throat in Enugu Barracks, Hides Corpse.”
While deeply regrettable that a young lady lost her life in a tragic incident involving a man with whom she was in a relationship, it stressed that it is essential to refute the unfounded claim that the perpetrator was a repentant Boko Haram member recruited into the Nigerian Army.
In a statement signed, Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu on Sunday April 14, 2024, the Nigerian Army categorically denied ever enlisting repentant Boko Haram members into its ranks, past or present.
However, consideration has been given to members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who demonstrated moral integrity and patriotism in the fight against terrorism in the North East.
Such individuals must also have exhibited unwavering commitment, dedication, and loyalty to both the service and the nation.
