LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed the opening of the state’s food discounted sales program, “Ounje Eko,” on Good Friday for the easter celebrations.
Typically held on Sundays, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, said the decision to open the market on Friday is in line with the spirit of the Easter period, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
The market, operational across 57 centers within the state’s five divisions (excluding the State Secretariat market), will offer various food items at a discounted rate of 25 percent off regular market prices. Products available include rice, beans, pepper, bread, eggs, and garri.
