LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Finidi George as the interim coach of the Super Eagles.
Finidi was in the dug out alongside Jose Peseiro during the 34th Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Ivory Coast where the Super Eagles finished as runners up.
He succeeds the Portuguese who left his role after the competition.
Finidi will lead the Super Eagles in their friendly matches against the Eagles of Mali.

The 52-year-old becomes the fifth player from the 1994 AFCON winning squad to coach the Super Eagles after, late Stephen Keshi, Samson Siasia, Sunday Oliseh and Austin Eguavoen.
This was announced on X via the team’s verified handle.
He was a well-decorated player who made a name for himself at Ajax in the Netherlands, which won eight major titles, including the 1995 Champions League.
Finidi was also an important member of the Nigeria team during the 1990s, appearing in two World Cups.
