LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the collapse of a five-story building in the state.
Eye witnesses claim that an unconfirmed number of persons are feared to have been trapped in the building which is under construction.
The building situated at Basden street, Fegge, in Onitsha, was said to have collapsed in the early hours of Sunday while some of the construction workers were on the last floor.
The reason for the collapse was yet to be ascertained but rescue operations have continued at the site.

Police spokesperson in Anambra,Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident, said operatives have been sent to the site to ascertain the number of casualties.
“Our deputy commissioner of police in charge of the operation led the operatives to the place, rescue operation is still ongoing, Right now I don’t have any information on the number of casualties,” Ikenga said.
