ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former South African President Jacob Zuma, accompanied by his daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, announced during a press conference in Soweto on 16 December, 2023, that he will not be endorsing the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in the country’s forthcoming general election.
Zuma, who served as president from 2009 to 2018 amid corruption allegations, expressed dissatisfaction with the ANC and its current leader, President Cyril Ramaphoso, labeling them as a “proxy for white monopoly capital.”

Instead, Zuma declared his support for the newly formed Umkhonto we Sizwe party, named after the ANC’s now-defunct military wing.
The ANC, once a key player in the liberation movement against apartheid, is grappling with challenges, and recent polls suggest it may secure less than 50 per cent of the votes in the upcoming election, potentially necessitating the formation of a coalition government to retain power.
