OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Luis Suarez, in his last game for Gremio on Sunday, scored the game-winning goal.
Just after halftime, in a 1-0 home victory over Vasco da Gama, the former attacker for Liverpool and Barcelona fired a low shot into the corner of the net from 23 yards.
After a VAR review, Suarez’s previous assist on a goal for Rodrigo Ely was disallowed for offside.
At the final whistle, Gremio supporters serenaded Suarez after he had played the entire ninety minutes.
Suarez is now a free agent and is widely expected to join ex-Barca teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 MLS season.

However, there are also rumors that Suarez may be considering retiring from soccer instead due to the toll that injuries have taken on his 36-year-old body.
Suarez in an interview with Radio 890 Sport, says “Days before each game I take three pills, and hours before playing I get an injection. If not, I can’t play. Hence the limp
“I have to think that in maybe five years I won’t be able to play five-a-side football with my friends.
“The truth is that the first steps in the morning are very painful. Anyone who sees me thinks that it is impossible for me to play a game.
“My son asks me to play with him and I simply cannot.”
