LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called for a replay of the match against Tottenham, citing VAR’s failure to intervene when Luis Diaz’s ‘goal’ was disallowed as the reason.
Klopp made this extraordinary request during a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield, saying, “As a football person, I think the outcome should be a replay.”
He emphasized the importance of dealing with the situation properly and acknowledged that the error was not intentional, stating, “They didn’t do it on purpose, we should not forget that.”

The controversial incident occurred during Liverpool’s match against Tottenham, where VAR failed to overturn an incorrect on-field decision, leading to the disallowance of Luis Diaz’s ‘goal.’
Despite the audio recording provided by PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) showing a significant human error by VAR Darren England, the decision was not corrected, and Liverpool ultimately lost 2-1.
In response to this incident, Liverpool expressed concerns about the game’s sporting integrity and announced their intention to explore various options for resolution.
Both VAR officials involved in the error, Darren England and assistant VAR Dan Cook, were subsequently removed from their officiating duties for the following matches.
