LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Kylian Mbappe is facing challenges with his physical fitness following his absence from PSG’s pre-season tour this summer.

Although he started for Paris Saint-Germain in their recent goalless draw against Clermont Foot, he did not perform at his usual level.

Mbappe had sustained an injury during the Le Classique match against Marseille the previous weekend.

Sources close to the superstar forward have indicated that his full physical fitness has yet to be regained due to his absence from the club’s pre-season tour, as reported by L’Équipe.

Luis Enrique had omitted Mbappe from the team’s pre-season tour to Japan in response to the player’s refusal to extend his contract with the club beyond the 2023/24 season.

His time away from first-team training sessions during that period appears to have impacted his ability to recover between games.

Despite these fitness challenges, the French star has managed to score eight goals in seven appearances across all competitions this season.

His next appearance will be in PSG’s Champions League matchup against Newcastle on Wednesday.
