LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – England captain Millie Bright has criticized the absence of VAR (Video Assistant Referee) in Nations League games following the Lionesses’ 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands.
The controversy arose when Danielle van de Donk was clearly offside in the build-up to Lieke Martens’ opening goal.
While Alessia Russo’s 64th-minute goal leveled the score, Renate Jansen netted in the 90th minute, securing a victory for the Netherlands.

Bright expressed her frustration with the absence of VAR in such competitive international matches, describing the decision as “mind-blowing.”
She emphasized the need for consistency in the use of technology in football, especially at the international level.
England’s next Nations League fixtures are scheduled for October, with a double-header against Belgium.
