LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Alexia Putellas, a star of both Barcelona and the Spanish national team, has strongly criticized the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) for their treatment of national team players in recent years.
Putellas addressed various issues, including the scandal involving former president Luis Rubiales’s actions and the practice of making players endure lengthy bus journeys while officials travelled by air.
In her statement to reporters, Putellas emphasized, “We have zero tolerance for what the entire world witnessed.
“We also have zero tolerance for things that may not have been visible because they were not live, and we cannot discuss them due to ongoing legal proceedings.”

“We were forced to endure six or seven-hour bus journeys while our rivals travelled comfortably by air. Waking up at three in the morning to catch a flight is not suitable for elite athletes.
“What you have just seen is only part of the story; we have been dealing with these conditions for years.”
Recently, the Spanish women’s national team reached an agreement with the RFEF, wherein the federation pledged to implement “immediate and profound” changes to their structure.
Spain’s next match will be on Tuesday when they face Switzerland in a Women’s Nations League clash.
