LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) –Folarin Balogun recently opened his account as a Monaco player, although his contribution couldn’t secure victory for the Ligue 1 team in their most recent match.

The American striker is still adapting to his new environment after his high-profile summer move and has been on international duty, which delayed his transition at Stade Louis II.

In Sunday’s clash with Lorient, Balogun came off the bench during the second half and, in a mere three minutes, executed a brilliant left-footed finish from a tight angle that found the back of the net, temporarily putting Monaco ahead 2-1.

However, a dramatic equalizer in the 98th minute forced them to settle for a draw.

Balogun shared his thoughts on social media, acknowledging the personal milestone but expressing disappointment with the overall outcome:

“Unfortunately, we did not achieve the desired result, but I am thrilled to have scored my first goal for this team!”

Balogun had an impressive loan spell at Reims last season, scoring 21 goals in Ligue 1.

After also finding the net for the USMNT during the international break, he aims to maintain his excellent form throughout the remainder of the 2023–24 campaign.
