LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, has fixed 27 September for the arraignment of Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti for allegedly assaulting a Police Officer.

The arraignment, which was supposed to take place on 5 September, was stalled due to the absence of Chief Magistrate Mrs Adeola Olatunbosun, who was said to be indisposed.

Following the absence of the Chief Magistrate, the court adjourned till the said date for Kuti’s arraignment.

Recall that the singer was arrested following the order of Inspector General of Police Usman Baba on 13 May for assaulting a Police officer in uniform on the Third Mainland Bridge.

On 15 May, the singer turned himself in and was afterwards placed under arrest.

He was arrested, handcuffed and taken to the state CID in Panti, Yaba, for investigation but later released on 23 May after meeting the conditions of his bail.
