LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Rivers State Police Command has announced that it has launched an investigation into the alleged brutalization of a woman by Police officers during a stop and search operation in the state.
The announcement comes after a video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
According to the statement by the command, thorough investigation will be conducted and efforts to identify the officers in questions has begun.
“The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to this trending video,”

“The Command wishes to inform the general public that all hands are on deck to identify the police officers in the trending video for proper investigation,” it added.
Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared the viral video on his Facebook page, tagged the Police Force Public Relation Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi and called for the intervention of the Rivers State Police Command.
He wrote: “Dear @adejobimuyiwa, Jennifer was yesterday allegedly badly beaten by your officers on ‘stop and search’ around Ada George, Rivers State @PoliceNG_Rivers.
“Please investigate this and call these men to order. Thank you.”
