LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A student of the University of Ibadan, Adisa Taofik Ajibola has emerged the winner of the National Engineering Science and Technology Essay Competition (NESTEC) held on Saturday, April 27th.
Ajibola, who survived a tough oppositions scored 80 per cent to win the coveted prize.
The award ceremony had eight finalists from four universities across Nigeria and they are University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria (Nsukka), Akwa Ibom State University, and Niger Delta University (Bayelsa State).
The President Blue Apple Educational Foundation (BAEF), Engr. Akan Michael, expressed his gratitude to the finalists and emphasized on the objectives of NESTEC to tap into the youths potential in the field of science and engineering.
He added that BAEF has been a platform for young graduate to further enhance their talent through research and scholarship both local and international.

The president further said that the competition registration is free, and, allow room for participation, engagement and transparency in its outcome.
Akan urged the finalists to embrace the spirit of innovation and to see the platform as a pathway for a brighter, more sustainable future.
“May this competition catalyze innovation, be a beacon of hope for the future, and a celebration of the boundless possibilities that lie at the intersection of engineering, science, and technology,” Engr Akan Michael said.
The eight finalist are: Adisa Taofik Ajibola of the University of Ibadan emerged overall winner scored 80 per cent, Njoku Onyekachi Sylvester of the University of Nigeria (Nsukka) took second position with 72 per cent, while Ebong Ekemini Paul of Akwa Ibom State University Third position scored 70 per cent.
Others include: Abosede Iyiola David (University of Ibadan) scored 62 per cent, Ngene Paul Onyedikachi and Omode Stephen Peace of the University of Nigeria (Nsukka) had 68 and 65.6 per cent respectively.
Ogbu Emmanuella Kosisochukwu of the University of Nigeria (Nsukka) got 59 per cent while Dordor Eden Ayebanua of the Niger Delta University scored 58 per cent.
Winners were awarded with cash prizes.
