LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain star, has been mentioned as a potential addition to Thierry Henry’s France U21 team.
Following the signing of a contract with the FFF (French Football Federation) that runs until 2025, the former Les Bleus and Arsenal striker will serve as the head coach of the French U23 squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Paris.
While securing qualifying for the 2025 U21 European Championship will be Henry’s main responsibility, he will also be expected to lead a successful Olympic campaign in the coming summer, when France will be hosting the Games.
He may bring up three senior players despite the Olympic team being primarily made up of youngsters under the age of 23.

During his first news conference as the new France U21s manager, Henry was questioned about his opinion of putting Mbappe in the team.
He responded: “On the pitch, it would have been excellent. But I’m afraid I’m unable to assist you. It’s historic that the Olympics are being held in France.
“Although I’m overjoyed, my focus right now is on the Euro Espoirs, and I’m considering players who were born on January 1, 2002, which is already really good.”
Mbappe had stated his ambition to compete in the Paris Olympics because he wants to complete his trophy collection after winning the World Cup in 2018.
He stated that he wanted to compete in the Tokyo Games in 2021 after viewing the London Games in 2012, but PSG rejected his request.
Mbappe will devote his immediate attention to PSG’s next Ligue 1 match against Lyon on Sunday at the Groupama Stadium.
