LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) Inter Milan’s director, Beppe Marotta, expressed his disappointment regarding Chelsea’s striker Romelu Lukaku, who turned down the opportunity to rejoin the club and reportedly agreed to terms with Juventus.
During an interview with Radio Serie A on Monday morning, Marotta discussed Inter’s transfer plans, acknowledging that some targeted acquisitions didn’t materialize, specifically referring to the unsuccessful Lukaku transfer.
“Lukaku’s decision was quite disappointing,” Marotta stated. “As for his future destination, I’m uncertain. With only 10 days left, options are limited, and it’s unlikely he’ll return to Italy.”
In the wake of Joaquin Correa’s imminent departure, leaving Inter in need of attacking reinforcements for the upcoming season, the club’s pursuits of Lazar Samardzic and Gianluca Scamacca were thwarted as both players opted to sign with other Serie A teams, Udinese and Atalanta, respectively.

Marotta hinted at the potential return of Alexis Sanchez: “Correa desires playing time, and we respect that.
Piero Ausilio is actively working on it. Alexis Sanchez, a remarkable talent, has expressed his eagerness to come back, and this is a positive sign,” Marotta added.
With victories in their first two matches, Inter is set to face newly-promoted Cagliari next Monday, maintaining their pursuit of success in the ongoing season.
