Lagos, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The Super Falcons of Nigeria were unable to proceed past the round of 16 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 after losing to England in a penalty shootout.
Both teams were unable to score after 90 minutes of play, and after 30 minutes of extra time, the score stayed the same.

Even after Lauren James was sent out for stomping on Nigerian player Michelle Alozie, the England team was reduced to 10 players, the Nigerian stars appeared to have the best chance of scoring in the match.
However, England’s defensive performance extended the game before a penalty shootout. On penalties, England prevailed 4–2.
