LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A man identified as Mazi Uchenna Odu has caused a stir on social media after he advised his fellow Igbo men to avoid court weddings at all cost.
Odu gave the advice in reaction to earlier reports that May, the first wife of actor Yul Edochie, had filed a N100 million lawsuit against him over his marriage to actress Judy Austin.
Recall that voiceofnaija.ng had earlier reported that the mother-of-three is demanding N100m in damages from the Nollywood actor and his second wife, Judy, who is also an actor as she accused Judy Austin of adultery.
Reacting to the report, the social media user, Odu via his handle @maziechiime, rebuked May for filing the lawsuit. He said anyone who advised May to seek legal redress will only succeed in making her a‘single mother.’

“Polygamy is powerful. End,” the post read in part.
In further reaction to the claim that it is illegal for a man to marry a second wife if he had a court wedding with his first wife, Odu wrote;
‘’Dear Igbo men, Avoid Court marriage at all cost.
“Stop involving Government into your marriage.”

He added that Igbo women should be ready to remain single forever if they reject a man that is against court marriage.
Some users of the platform have taken to the comments section to support his opinion while others vehemently opposed the post.
@Od1ra said, “if it’s not traditional, then I am not in.
In disagreement with the post @NonyeKings said, “Dear women. Refuse! Their intentions for saying this is evil. Do not agree.
@Inno4Chi added, “Why should you fear statutory marriage? If you’re committed to a woman you should endorse it in writing. If it’s about assets, our system isn’t strong enough to trace a man’s income and assets in the event of a dissolution. In any case, she and your children, if any, are your responsibility.
