The Senator representing Zamfara constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress Abdul’aziz Yari, has condoled with the family of Professor Abdullahi Shinkafi over the death of a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
NAN reports that Shinkafi, also a former Commissioner for Religious Affairs during the administration of Yari in the State, died on Saturday in Abuja after a brief illness.
Yari, while speaking at the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Talata-Mafara town on Sunday, described Shinkafi’s death as a great loss to the state and Nigeria in general.
“Shinkafi contributed immensely to the development of the state and Nigeria in general.
“May Almighty Allah grant Aljannatul Firdausi to the deceased, forgive his shortcomings and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“We extend our condolences to the immediate family of the deceased and the people of the state,” he said.
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, also said it received with shock the sudden death of its party stalwart, Professor Abdullahi Muhammed Shinkafi, in Abuja.
According to a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, by the State APC publicity secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, his sudden death was devastating.
“The death of a promising Islamic scholar of international repute and academician per excellence such as Professor Shinkafi’s is a monumental loss to Zamfara State, State APC Family, and Nigeria at large,” the statement said.

It noted that the State Working Committee extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, relatives and associates and pray Almighty Allah to reward his soul with Jannatul Firdausi.
The late Shinkafi was once a commissioner of the state Ministry of Religious Affairs and later appointed as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, during Abdul Aziz Yari’s eight years in office.
He is survived by two wives, who are professors of Islamic studies at the Usman Danfodio University in Sokoto State.
NAN reports that special prayers were offered for the deceased during the meeting.
