LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Joselu, former Newcastle and Stoke striker, has officially signed a loan agreement with Read Madrid’s Los Blancos.
Real have run out of options for dependable center strikers since Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema left Santiago Bernabeu for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
They have turned to a well-known figure in an effort to add more firepower to their roster. Joselu has agreed to return to the Spanish capital as part of a contract that includes the option for a permanent transfer to be pushed through in 2024.
“Real Madrid CF and RCD Espanyol de Barcelona have agreed on the loan of the player Joselu, who will be linked to the club for the next season, with a purchase option at the end of it,” read a club statement.
“Joselu joined the Real Madrid academy at the age of 20 and played two seasons at Castilla. He made his debut with the Real Madrid first team in 2011.
“Joselu is international with the Spanish team, with which he has just been proclaimed champion of the 2023 Nations League.”

Previously, Joselu worked with Real in 2009, scoring 40 goals in 73 games for their B team.
He scored in both of his competitive outings for the Blancos’ first squad, but was permitted to join German club Hoffenheim in 2012.
Joselu suffered after leaving Real, scoring just seven goals during forgettable stints at Stoke and Newcastle in England.
However, Joselu’s reputation was restored at Alaves and Espanyol, and he now returns to Madrid as a senior member of the Spanish national team and a 2023 UEFA Nations League champion.
The Blancos’ interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, who will be a free agency next summer if no contract extension is reached in France, will likely be shelved in light of his arrival.
