Chelsea, PSG Begin Negotiations Over Neymar Deal

LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in preliminary negotiations about Neymar’s potential summer transfer.

The Brazilian forward was on fire for the Ligue 1 champions, scoring 18 goals and dishing out 17 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, but he sustained an ankle injury in February that kept him out for the remainder of the year.

According to reports, he has mostly fallen short of expectations in the French capital and has frequently come under fire from the team’s supporters, which has apparently pushed him in the direction of the exit door despite having a contract at Parc des Princes for another four years.

Le10Sport reports that Chelsea is the most recent team to enter the fray by starting talks with PSG, following prior rumors that Manchester United and Newcastle were ready to lure him to England.

After a disastrous Premier League campaign, Mauricio Pochettino, the new manager of Chelsea, is rumored to be considering a reunion with the forward, who he previously handled during the coach’s time at PSG in the 2021–22 campaign.

In an effort to recoup some of the record-breaking €222 million transfer fee they spent to Barcelona in 2017, PSG will be aiming to secure a “good” price for Neymar.

Neymar’s decision to join Chelsea, which won’t participate in the Champions League next year, is still up in the air.

As previously stated, the Brazilian is only interested in joining Manchester United if he leaves Paris Saint-Germain.
