LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) aircraft has reportedly skidded off runway 18L upon landing the Murtala Mohammed Airport 2 in Ikeja, Lagos.
According to a statement from the airline, signed by its Head, Corporate Communications, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, the aircraft with registration number 5N-BWW with 50 passengers on board, was flying in from Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, when the incident happened.
The statement explained that the aircraft landed safely but was forced to terminate its movement to the apron off the runway.

“All passengers disembarked safely and were transported to the arrival hall alongside their luggage,” the airline said.
It also disclosed that officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) went to the scene of the incident alongside UNA engineers to move the aircraft to the hangar.
According to the airline, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have also been duly notified and on the scene, as the airline said it was collaborating fully with the authorities.
“United Nigeria wants to reassure the public that it maintains the strictest safety standards in its operations and shall continue to prioritize passenger safety at all times,” the statement added.
