LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Bauchi State Police Command have arrested suspected thugs including three teenagers, for amputating a 21-year-old man’s hand in Bauchi Metropolis.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in the state made the disclosure in a press briefing on 19 April.
The police reaffirmed their readiness to carry out their constitutional obligations to uphold law and order, provide adequate security for people and property, prevent and identify crimes, and enforce the law to maintain civil order.
According to Wakil, among the thugs arrested were three teenagers identified by a 21-year-old man, one Sadiq Bala, to have amputated his right hand.
“The command received a complaint from one Sadiq Bala ‘m’ aged 21yrs, a victim of Sara-suka who was later invited for an identification parade and he vividly identified one Ibrahim Musa ‘m’ aged 18yrs, Buhari Ahmad ‘m’ aged 18yrs and Abba Usman ‘m’ aged 18yrs to be amongst the thugs that amputated his right hand,” Wakil stated.
He added that the suspects confessed to the allegation against them and were remorseful for their actions.
The three teenagers, the police spokesman stated, were among those earlier arrested by operatives of the command’s Operation Restore Peace (ORP) at Mallan Goje, Nasarawa, and Karofi areas of the state capital.
Wakil identified the suspected thugs arrested in the operation as Adamu Sirajo 25; Sadiq Isah , 20; Nasiru Abdullahi, 19; Amir Abdullahi, 20; Ukasha Ladan, 21; Abdulkarim Mohammad, 22; Ibrahim Musa, 17; Abbas Usman, 18; Buhari Ahmad, 19; and Safiyanu Abdullahi, 20.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to the PPRO, included three knives, four machetes, two sharp iron, among others.
