LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Daniel Ogoshi, driver of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akanbe, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

It was gathered that the driver was abducted from the residence of his friend around 9:30 pm, at Ombi 2, College of Agriculture, Kwandere Road, Lafia, the state capital, on 19 April.

His phone and car were reportedly left behind by the bandits.

A family friend of the victim, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said it was unfortunate, noting that he received a call around 9pm that his brother had been taken away by the kidnappers.

According to reports, kidnapping has been prevalent in the state and top Government officials have not been left out.

The media officer to the Deputy Governor, Chris Ehima, confirmed the incident, saying that he was informed about the situation but did not have adequate information on what had transpired.

Ehima expressed shock over the incident, stating that the state Government would do everything possible to secure the release of the kidnapped driver.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, while confirming the incident said the police were on top of the matter.

Recall that a retired Immigration officer, Mr Jacob Agada, was kidnapped and killed by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers around the same area recently.

Recall also that the incident involving the immigration officer happened shortly after the abduction of a former deputy governor of the state, Professor Onje Gye-Wado, from his residence in Rinza community in Wamba local government area of the state.
