LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a yet-to-be-identified couple along Osogbo-Iragbiji road by some unknown gunmen on their way back from a church program at 4 am.

The man and his wife were reportedly riding on a motorcycle when they ran into an ambush mounted by the kidnappers.

Commenting on the incident, the State Police Command spokesperson, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola on 17 April, confirmed the incident saying the case had been reported to the Police and asserted that the police were on the trail of the suspects.

“The case was reported and we are working very hard to rescue the couple. Operatives are combing the bush in the area and we want to assure the public that the victims will be rescued and the perpetrators of the crime will not escape justice.”

“Already the Police had commenced a search and rescue operation to free the victims and will not relent in doing this,” she said.

Meanwhile, local hunters and Police operatives are combing the forest in the area in search of the couple and the abductors.
