Twitter users are dragging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the press release by the electoral body blaming technical hitches for issues faced with its results upload and collation.
The press release titled, ‘Challenges Experienced With The INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV)’ was signed by Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and posted on Sunday night, 26 February, 2023.
Reacting to the press release, a tweep Olumide Adesina tagged the electoral process “a big embarrassment for a tech driven country.
“This is below the belt for Africa’s biggest crypto and fintech market.”
Another tweep @_davyben said, “Look at the timing of the communication, look at the disorganization, look at the laxity, look at the unprofessionalism, look at the gross incompetence. What kind of institution is this fgs?? Are we playing here? Are we seriously joking now? Fix UP!!!”
“You had 4 years of preparations for this mess,” @usman_haruna reacted.
@iSlimfit also tweeted: “You lots had four whole years to prepare for a few days exercise and this is the best you could come up with? Shame! Some things will never change.”
@Nedunaija on his part called the electoral body “a shameless organization”.
“You’re such a shameless organization!
“So you never knew that off-season elections wouldn’t be the same as general election?
“Clowns!”
JEU wrote: “INEC action is a calculated scheme to reduce the number of voters to ensure a particular party wins. This is the reason. Hence they refused to upload because more voters came out and it was against their purported scheme. It is a shame.”
@FS_Yususf lamented bitterly: “I didn’t just read that second paragraph!? Why am I in this country!?? How did I get here, God. What is this!? U had 4 years to prepare for this election & u are telling us that u are just transforming ur portal from “off season State to functional state for election operation’?”
