IBADAN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A patriotic Nigerian woman identified on Twitter as Moore, is back in the country to exercise her right to vote in the 25 February presidential election.
The woman who seems to favour the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, took to Twitter on Sunday to reveal that she returned on 20 January, to vote for her preferred candidate.
She wrote: “I told my sister I am coming in to vote as well as tidy up all other pending task, she thought it was a joke. 20th I carried my bag and PVC, arrived Nigeria safely. I am voting BOLA AHMED TINUBU ON GOD!”
Her tweet has sparked reactions from Nigerians who support the former Governor of Lagos State and others who don’t.
The tweep also retweeted tweets by Tolu Ogunlesi, who is the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New media.
Ogunlesi who backs Tinubu, called on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to present his records of achievement while he was the Governor of Anambra State.
According to him, the only sellable thing for this presidential candidate is RECORD.
He wrote: “The only sellable thing for this presidential election is RECORD. Show us what you did in the previous political positions you held. What you innovated, implemented. The teams you assembled and empowered. The lasting legacies you left behind.
““I will, I will” or “This is how China /Bangladesh/ Indonesia did it” or “You will see when we get there” won’t quite cut it.
“Show the past workings: what you did, the fresh thinking you brought, how you mobilized financing for it, who you assembled to help do it.
“That PMB was going to be Nigeria’s most impactful infrastructure President was evident from his PTF and Petroleum Commissioner record.
“That he was going to decisively degrade and defeat Boko Haram (yes, BH/ISWAP degraded/defeated) was evident from his record against Maitatsine.
“That PIB and Deep Offshore Acts are a reality, NLNG Train 7 is on, AKK pipeline under construction, PH Refinery being overhauled, @NigeriaGov facilitating + taking stakes in private refineries, oil finds in Bauchi, etc—should surprise no one, knowing PMB’s oil industry bonafides.
“That PMB is leaving behind a Nigerian military at its most resourced and equipped in DECADES should also not surprise anyone who knows PMB’s antecedents – ex-Military Secretary, and GOC of 3 of the 4 Army Divisions that existed during his service.
“That PMB is leaving behind a solid National Social Investment structure and institution – one of the foundations that will define the future of Nigeria – should also surprise no one, knowing his antecedents, and the ideology of his party.
“So, records matter. You cannot have been Governor for eight years and all you want to do is show us how China and Bangladesh and Vietnam have done it. Show us exactly what you did (that is lasting/impactful) and how you did it in your State. Don’t tell us to go and find out.
“Show the workings from the past. We don’t want workings from Asia. We want the workings from Onitsha and Nnewi, two of the most vibrant economic hubs in Nigeria. We want to see your own equivalent of Lekki Free Trade Zone, or LIRS reforms, or groundbreaking Judicial Reforms.
“We have gone to verify, and we have seen a lot of MOUs signed by the @PeterObi Admin in Anambra: 260MW Power Plant, Onitsha Monorail, VAADC Rice JV, Meat Processing, etc.
“Can you please tell us which (if any) of these MANY MOUs went from idea to reality?
“That is your record.”
He shared screenshots of stories published by Vanguard with headlines showing Peter Obi’s projects and plans when he was still a Governor.
Another tweep, @sholexx said she wanted to come back and vote but her husband prevented her from doing so due to the insecurity in the country.
“Would have come to vote oooo, my husband didn’t allow me to come due to the current situation in the country mostly the scarcity of Naira.
“I feel so sad honestly.
“But I’d be here cheering you guys and doing my little bit to see Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu victorious.”
@Barry who resides in Europe said: “Me too coming on Wednesday by God grace.”
