Enugu, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Again, the G5 Governors led by Governor Nyesom Wike have pledged to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates at all levels, excluding the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking at the PDP Enugu State 2023 Elections Campaign Flag Off held at the Michael Okpara Square on Friday, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, said the G5 will support PDP at all levels in the state, leaving out the presidential candidate.
Ortom said also the 2023 election is a very critical one, however assured that the PDP will win Enugu State.
Ortom said: “We are going with the impression that Enugu State is PDP from the gubernatorial, from the Senatorial, the House of Reps and House of Assembly.
“This election is very very critical. May I declare that PDP will win in Enugu State.
“Governor Wike speaking noted that their coming to Enugu was to inform the people that they are solidly behind Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi saying that he is “a reliable and and dependable person.”
His words: “Ugwuanyi is somebody you can go to war with and your two eyes will be closed. Ugwuanyi is somebody who will say yes, and his yes is yes. No wonder the entire people of Enugu State have shown you today that Ugwuanyi is our own.
“And since Ugwuanyi is our own, Mbah is our own. I want to assure you, we will all pray for you, the governorship candidate and his deputy, our colleague who is going to Senate (Ugwuanyi) and the other of his colleagues, the House of Reps, the House of Assembly, we will all give you the necessary support and make sure you emerge victorious in this election come February 25, and March 11.
“Now that it is obvious that Mbah has won, now that is obvious that the senatorial candidates led by Ugwuanyi, they have all won, as Mbah has won, we are all happy.”
Wike thanked people of Enugu and urged them to continue to support Ugwuanyi, saying that Mbah will do the consolidation and continuity of where he (Ugwuanyi) is going to stop.
On his part, Ugwuanyi recounting the years Enugu voted for PDP, asked the electorates to support the party again in this 2023 election to ensure its victory.
He thanked Ndi Enugu for their continued support and solidarity all these years. He expressed hope that the 2023 elections will finish well and will also, end in praise.
The governorship candidate of the PDP in Enugu, Peter Mbah, disclosed that his vision for the people of Enugu is to grow the economy of Enugu State and make it one of the country’s state in this country.
“We will ensure that the dividends of democracy, with the government of Ugwuanyi, we will ensure we continue to build on those dividends. Enugu State has remained the home of the PDP,” he said.
Earlier in his speech, Mbah thanked the G5 Governors for their tireless pursuit of equity in “our land.”
Mbah said: “Yours is a group that dare to be different by interrogating the political caucus in our country.
“Let me also thank you for the brotherly love you have shown to our leader, our mentor, our inspirer.
“The governorship hopeful said Enugu has remained one of the most peaceful and investor friendly state in Nigeria, through the help of Governor Ugwuanyi.
“Our beloved Governor has ensured massive infrastructure development, maintenance of secured environment for businesses, including economic development and most importantly, the education sector.”
