ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested an armed robber suspect identified as Kaizer Freeman.
According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, on Thursday, the suspect was apprehended by a crack team of anti-kidnapping operatives.
Butswat said the suspect was nabbed following a complaint by a female victim he had robbed.
He revealed that Freeman robbed the victim of her mobile phone at gunpoint at Agudama, Yenagoa, the state capital.
Items recovered from him upon a search included “one dummy pistol, a pistol holster, a handcuff, and Navy, Army, and Air Force face caps.”
The statement said: “Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect.
“The suspect Kaizer Freeman was arrested following a complaint by a victim who was robbed of her mobile phone at gunpoint at Agudama, Yenagoa, on 17 January 2023 at about 1745 hours.
“Upon a search of the suspect house, the Police recovered one dummy pistol, a pistol holster, a handcuff, and Navy, Army, and Air Force face caps.
“The suspect has admitted to the crime and an investigation is ongoing to recover the phone, the suspect will be charged in court after the investigation.”
