Bandits killed one person and kidnapped not less than 45 persons in Angwan Aku, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at about 10.00am on Sunday, 25 December, 2022.

It was gathered that the attack took place while Christian faithful were getting set to attend Church services in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The bandits in their hundreds who rode on motorcycles, were said to have parked their motorbikes along the road before invading the villages, shooting indiscriminately.

According to a source, the bandits went from house-to-house picking their victims, adding that at the end, they went away with 53 but seven people escaped while they killed one.

The source added that at the moment, 45 of the villagers are with the bandits.

“The bandits struck at about 10.00am on Sunday, being Christmas Day, when Christians were getting set for Church services.

“They were in large numbers. They came on motorcycles but they parked by the roadside and moved from house-to-house to attack residents.

“They killed one person on the spot and made away with 53 but seven escaped and returned home. 45 people are still with them,” he said.

There was no official confirmation of the attack by either the State government or the State Police command.

The State Police spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, said he was not aware of the attack but promised to provide more information on the attack.
